TSC1: The protein encoded by this gene is a tumor suppressor and is called hamartin. Hamartin interacts with tuberin to a protein complex that helps regulate cell growth and size. Mutations in TSC1 can lead to an abnormal version of hamartin that cannot form a complex with tuberin. This results in cells that grow too large and/or divide too often, leading to tumors in many tissues of the body (tuberous sclerosis).The RLN1 and RLN2 genes encode for relaxin 1 and relaxin 2. Relaxins are hormones that are produced by the ovary. Their main function is to determine the ripening of the cervix, elongating of the pubic symphysis and inhibiting of the uterine contraction.
